Spring sports weekly recap: April 1-7

We are one week into April, and our spring sports teams are hitting their stride. Here is an update on how the spring season is going:

Baseball

After several cancelations last week, the varsity baseball team played a doubleheader against New Castle on Saturday and picked up a pair of wins. The Indians move to 2-0 in the section as a result. Bad weather canceled or postponed all other baseball games last week.

Softball

As was the case with baseball, the varsity softball team did not play until Saturday when they traveled to Plum and beat the Mustangs 12-2. The victory moves North Hills to 4-1 on the season.

Girls’ Lacrosse

The girls’ varsity lacrosse team competed three times last week. A 9-4 win over Butler was sandwiched between two losses, putting the girls at 1-2 last week. Overall, their record is 4-3 this spring.

Boys’ Lacrosse

Boys’ lacrosse only competed one time last week when they traveled to North Catholic on Friday. A dominant win improved the team’s overall record to 2-2.

Track & Field

The varsity track team traveled to Butler last week for the third meet of the season. Once again, the conditions were not ideal, but the team ran well. Now, the track team will look ahead to the only home meet of the season this week.

Boys’ Tennis

The tennis team did not have a match last week, but the boys competed in Section Singles, and senior Josh Kim placed third. He will advance to the WPIAL Singles, which will take place this week.

Boys’ Volleyball

Varsity volleyball went 1-1 last week with a win over Fox Chapel and a loss against Seneca Valley. As a result, the team now owns a 3-2 record this spring. JV volleyball went 0-2 last week and is now also 3-2 on the season, while the middle school teams are 3-1.

Girls’ Flag Football

The girls’ flag football team traveled to North Allegheny over the weekend to get the 2024 season started with two games. They will be in action every Sunday this spring.
