The North Hills 9th grade boys basketball team showed some “bounce back” ability Thursday.
After a sub-part showing and a loss to Central Catholic on the special “789 Night” Tuesday, North Hills bounced back two days later, went on the road and beat Shaler, 50-38.
North Hills pitched a shutout in the first quarter, holding Shaler without a point. The Indians led at halftime, 26-12, before Shaler made things interesting. The Titans sliced North Hills’ lead to three at one point, but North Hills came back to take a seven-point lead into the final quarter.
North Hills was never seriously threatened again.
Jake Pollaro got the Indians started off on the right foot, scoring all seven of his points in the first quarter. When it was over, Royce Parham led North Hills with 13 points and Mike Hoskey added 8. Nine North Hills players scored. Logan Johnson had 7.
The Indians have a big week next week with three games. North Hills plays home games Tuesday and Wednesday against Moon. and Mt. Lebanon. Then the Indians travel to North Allegheny next Friday.
Home games Tuesday and Wednesday are at 3:30 p.m. at the Senior High gymnasium.
