Melanie Taylor named Trib HSSN 5A Softball Player of the Year

Senior shortstop Melanie Taylor has been named to the Trib HSSN Head of the Class as the 5A Softball Player of the Year. The recognition came over the weekend as a result of her masterful regular season and postseason performances.
Taylor stood out during the regular season, as she complied a .395 batting average, eight home runs, 30 RBIs and a .790 slugging percentage. She followed that up in the playoffs with a .435 (10/23) average, two home runs and seven RBIs, en route to a WPIAL championship, the first in 21 years for North Hills.
