December is here, and that means that our winter sports have begun playing games.
Last week, we kicked things off with our winter pep rally. Then, over the weekend, boys’ basketball, girls’ middle school basketball, wrestling, and swimming and diving kicked off their seasons.
Girls’ Basketball
The JV and varsity teams did not play over the weekend, but the middle school basketball teams opened their season on Friday when they hosted Mars.
Boys’ Basketball
JV and varsity boys’ basketball kicked things off with the North Hills Tip-Off Tournament, and both teams picked up wins against Perry on Friday. On Saturday, the varsity team fell in overtime against Hampton to finish second in the tournament.
The freshman and middle school teams lost on the road on Friday.
Swimming and Diving
The swimming and diving teams traveled to West Allegheny on Friday to begin their season. The girls tied, 89-89, while the boys won, 95-84.
Wrestling
Varsity wrestling participated in the Chartiers-Houston Invitational over the weekend and finished eighth out of 32 teams.
Logan Milligan (second place), Lucas Palermo (third place), Giavonie Schipani (fifth place), and Spencer Pantales (sixth place) all picked up medals for the Indians.
