Christmas is less than a week away, and winter sports are in full swing. Here is where our teams stand as they prepare for the break.
Girls’ Basketball
The varsity team began the week with a win over Canon McMillan before falling on the road in a close game against Fox Chapel on Friday. The girls’ 1-1 record last week brings their overall record to 4-2.
At the middle school level, both teams have been great so far this winter season, combining for a 9-1 record.
Boys’ Basketball
Boys’ varsity basketball narrowly escaped Butler to begin the week, emerging with a 72-71 victory. They again took things down to the wire against Seneca Valley on Friday, as they needed Jake Pollaro’s buzzer-beater to win and improve to 4-1.
The freshman basketball team had a perfect week to move to 4-1 on the season, while the middle school teams are also off to a good start.
Swimming and Diving
Both varsity swimming and diving teams picked up wins on Tuesday. For the girls, it was their first of the season, and for the boys, it improved their record to 3-0. Each team lost later in the week when they traveled to Hopewell.
Wrestling
After winning the NH Duals last weekend, the varsity team kept the momentum rolling by defeating Shaler, 42-30. The team is now 7-1 on the season. Junior high wrestling took on Shaler and Gateway last week.
