Varsity softball falls to South Fayette in first round
Updated on 04/30/2024

The girls’ varsity softball team traveled to Montour on Monday to take on South Fayette in the first round of the 5A WPIAL playoffs.

North Hills came into the matchup with a 14-3 record. The girls finished second in the section in the regular season, earning them the five-seed in the tournament.

The Lions jumped out to a one-run lead in the first inning, which they later turned into a 3-0 advantage. North Hills tied the game at three, but South Fayette took the lead right back.

Down three runs, the Indians were able to score two more times but couldn’t get the tying run they needed. When the final out was recorded, North Hills was upset by the 12-seeded Lions, 6-5.

The first-round loss is not what the Indians wanted, but they put together yet another season to be proud of. They fought hard all spring and gave North Hills plenty to cheer about.

Thanks for a great season, girls!
