Gamaliel Mogire and Mallory Pierce have been named the Student-Athletes of the Month for May.
Mogire, a sophomore track and field athlete, had a tremendous season. He put an exclamation point on it with a WPIAL individual championship in the 300-meter hurdles. At the WPIAL championships, he also picked up a bronze medal, and he earned an eighth-place finish at the state competition.
Off the track, Mogire tackled a difficult course load as a sophomore. With two CHS classes and three honors classes, he had a strong year in the classroom.
Pierce, a junior girls’ lacrosse player, earned Second Team All-Section honors this spring for her role on the Indians’ lacrosse team. Her play helped guide North Hills to a playoff berth and a first-round victory over Sewickley Academy.
In the classroom. Pierce took one CHS course, two honors courses, and one AP course. She not only took a variety of challenging classes, but she excelled, ending with nearly all A’s.
Congratulations, Gama and Mallory, on a great month of May!
