Sophomore Ellie Kim took part in the WPIAL 3A Girls’ Tennis Singles Championships on Wednesday and represented North Hills well. 

Kim was the ten-seed in the WPIAL tournament, her second tournament appearance after qualifying as a freshman last fall. In round one, she took on the seven-seed, a senior, and won 10-3. 

Her quarterfinal opponent was the tournament’s second seed, a freshman from Pine-Richland. Kim gave it all she had but ultimately lost, 10-5.

Her appearance in the quarterfinals was an improvement over last year’s first-round exit, demonstrating the payoff of her hard work over the last year.
