Fall is here and so is the last week of September. Here is where our teams stand with October on the horizon.
Girls’ Tennis
Sophomore Ellie Kim competed in the WPIAL Individual Championships last week. She was the ten-seed in the tournament, and she won her first match of the day before falling in the quarterfinals.
As a team, girls’ tennis hosted Shaler Area on Thursday for senior day and won, 5-0.
Golf
Three members of the varsity golf team advanced to the WPIAL Individual First Round after participating in section qualifiers last week. Kasey Toia led the way with a 75 to qualify for the second consecutive year. Nate Patsilevas (79) and Thomas Rowse (81) also qualified.
Girls’ Soccer
The varsity soccer team had a difficult week, posting an 0-3 record. Losses against Pine-Richland, Butler, and Plum bring the team’s record to 0-9 this season. JV soccer picked up a win at home against Plum on Saturday.
Boys’ Soccer
After two losses to start the week, the boys’ varsity soccer team got back on track with a dominant 9-1 win over Carlynton on Saturday. So far this fall, the team has a record of 3-7. JV soccer also picked up a win on Saturday, and the middle school teams both own winning records.
Girls’ Volleyball
The varsity volleyball team went 1-1 last week, sweeping Butler and losing to Seneca Valley. On the season, the girls are 6-2 overall and 1-2 in the section. The JV squad is also having a strong start to the season, picking up win number four last week.
