Girls’ volleyball team set for first round of WPIAL playoffs
Updated on 04/30/2024

After clinching a playoff spot for the second year in a row, the North Hills varsity volleyball team has learned its seeding and first-round opponent in the 4A bracket.

The girls finished the regular season with a 10-6 overall record, which was the program’s best mark since 1988. A 2-6 record in the ultra-competitive Class 4A Section 1 gave the girls a fourth-place section finish.

That regular season resume earned them the eight-seed in the WPIAL tournament. They will take on ninth-seeded Hempfield in a rematch of the five-set marathon the teams played last month. North Hills was victorious in that lone head-to-head meeting.

Last season, the team qualified as the 12-seed and lost to Canon-McMillan in the opening round. This time around, the girls will look to build upon their perfect non-section record and advance to the WPIAL quarterfinals.

The action begins for North Hills at 6:00 on Tuesday at Pine-Richland High School. Best of luck, girls!
