The girls’ volleyball team traveled to Pine-Richland on Tuesday to take on Hempfield in the first round of the WPIAL 4A girls’ volleyball tournament.
North Hills got off to a good start, winning a back-and-forth first set, 25-23 to take a 1-0 lead in the best-of-five match. In the second set, Hempfield came out strong and evened things up with a 25-15 win.
In set three, Hempfield again came out hot, but the Indians rallied. Still, they were not able to win the race to 25 points. With their backs against the wall, the girls battled in the fourth set but ultimately couldn’t overcome another early deficit.
With the 3-1 loss, the season has come to an end for North Hills. Despite losing in the first round of the playoffs, this fall has been a great one for girls’ volleyball. The team’s 10-6 overall record was the program’s best finish in over three decades, and 2023 marked consecutive postseason appearances.
Congratulations on a great season, girls!
