Jake Messina and Megan Bolinda have been named the Student-Athletes of the Month for October.

Messina, a senior on the varsity football team, was a key member of the 2023 season for North Hills. On the field, he was a starter on both sides of the ball and was named to the Big 56 All-Section First Team as an offensive tackle.

He also served as a team captain and a member of the team’s leadership council. In the classroom, Messina has taken on a schedule highlighted by honors, AP, and CHS classes and has done very well.

Bolinda, a freshman on the varsity cross country team, was one of the best runners on the girls’ side all season. In October’s WPIAL Championships, she finished in 20:58.90, making her the NH girls’ top finisher. Her time was the best by a North Hills girl since 2016.

In the classroom, Bolinda has hit the ground running in her high school career. She finished the first quarter with almost all A’s, and she’s already taking two honors classes.
