The winter sports season officially began on November 17, but over the weekend, teams participated in their first contests of the year.

Both the boys’ and girls’ JV and varsity basketball teams kicked things off with tip-off tournaments. 

The boys earned a dominant win over Perry on Friday night before falling to Hampton in the championship game on Saturday. Eric James was named to the all-tournament team for North Hills.

Meanwhile, the girls traveled to St. Joseph and beat Ellwood City on Friday night. On Saturday, they lost a tight championship game. Olivia Waters led the way in that game with 25 points.

Varsity swimming and diving got the season started at home against West Allegheny. The girls picked up a 99-84 win, while the boys lost 87-94.

Varsity wrestling participated in the Chartiers-Houston Tournament, and the team finished 8^th out of 26 teams. In addition, North Hills had four individual place winners.
