The holiday break has come and gone, and 2024 is here. Below is a recap of our teams’ performances over the last couple of weeks:

Swimming & Diving

The swimming and diving teams returned to action last Thursday when they traveled to Moon. Entering this week, the boys’ team is 2-2-1 on the season, while the girls are 3-2. Both teams are 0-1 in section competition.

Wrestling

The varsity wrestlers returned from the holiday break to wrestle against Butler and picked up a win on the road. Overall, the team is 7-1 this winter with a 1-0 record in the section.

Girls’ Basketball

Varsity girls’ basketball went 0-2 at the Highlands Holiday Tournament during the break. They returned to action in the new year to take on Shaler Area and won 45-37 on the road. Overall, the girls own a 6-6 record.

The JV team earned a one-point win over Baldwin over the break and lost their first game of 2024 against Shaler Area. They are now 7-2 on the season. 

Boys’ Basketball

The varsity team went 1-1 at the Hampton Holiday Tournament over the break, losing to Grove City on day one and beating Altoona on day two. The boys then played a pair of tough opponents last week, losing both contests, including a double overtime thriller against Moon, to fall to 4-6 on the season.

The JV squad went 0-2 at the Hampton Holiday Tournament, then lost against both Mars and Moon to move to 3-6 overall. Freshman basketball went 1-1 at its holiday tournament, while the middle school teams both lost to Fox Chapel.

Unified Bocce

Unified bocce did not play last week, but the team will return to action on Monday at Pine-Richland to build upon its 1-0 start to the season.

Gymnastics

Like bocce, gymnastics did not compete in the first week of January but will return to action this week against Baldwin and Thomas Jefferson.
