January is already halfway over, and the winter season is heating up. Here is where our teams stand: 

Swimming & Diving

The varsity swimming and diving teams hosted a pair of meets last week. Both the boys and the girls defeated Shaler Area before splitting with Butler later in the week. The boys are now 4-2-1 on the season, while the girls are 4-3.

Wrestling

Varsity wrestling had two matches last week and went 1-1. Over the weekend, the team participated in the Burgettstown Invitational and finished in sixth place out of 33 teams.

Girls’ Basketball

The girls’ varsity basketball team was 2-0 last week, beating New Castle and Mars to improve to 5-0 in the section. Overall, the girls are 8-7 so far this winter and are enjoying one of their best in-section starts in years. JV basketball also went 2-0 last week and is now 9-2.

Boys’ Basketball

Boys’ basketball posted a 1-1 record last week to move to 5-7 on the season. In the section, the boys own a 1-3 record. 

The JV team went 2-1 last week and now also has a 5-7 record. The freshman team improved to 6-4 with a perfect week. They have won five of their last six games.

Unified Bocce

The unified bocce team traveled to Pine-Richland last week for its second match of the year. North Hills 1 moved to 2-2 on the season, while North Hills 2 is still perfect, owning a 4-0 record.

Gymnastics

The varsity gymnastics team hosted its only home meet of the season last week when it took on Thomas Jefferson and Baldwin. The girls put on a strong performance in their second match of the season.

7:30 – Girls’ Varsity Basketball vs Fox Chapel (MS Annex Gym)

Friday, January 19

3:30 – Boys’ MS Basketball vs North Allegheny (MS Dungeon Gym)

3:30 – Boys’ Freshman Basketball vs Fox Chapel (HS Gym)

Saturday, January 20

No Home Event
