For the first time since 2016, the North Hills girls’ basketball team is playoff-bound.
With a win over Shaler Area on Friday night, North Hills improved to 10-8 overall and 7-2 in the section, which is tied for first place. That win locked the Indians into the playoffs for only the fourth time this century.
In what will be the program’s 17th appearance in the WPIAL postseason, this team will attempt to do what no North Hills girls’ basketball team has done since 1979: win a playoff game. That team over 40 years ago reached the WPIAL final, but no team since has escaped the first round.
This 2023-2024 team has already accomplished more than most thought was possible. As the program is only two years removed from a one-win campaign, the turnaround in the last two seasons has been remarkable.
Now, with their spot in the playoffs already secured, the girls have their sights set on a section title and a long-overdue playoff victory.
Congratulations, girls, and keep up the great work!
