Eli Parker and Gianna Sturdivant have been named January’s Student-Athletes of the Month.

Parker, a sophomore on the boys’ swimming and diving team, has been a point scorer in every event, helping to guide his team to a winning record overall and in the section. He was praised by Coach Loutsenhizer as being an “encouraging teammate” and “willing to assist” the team.

In the classroom, Parker has compiled a 4.2 GPA while taking a combination of honors, AP, and College in High School courses.

Sturdivant, a senior on the girls’ basketball team, has shined this season, leading the team in scoring in the month of January while also leading the charge defensively. As a result, her team is in contention for a section championship and has clinched its first playoff berth since 2016.

Coach Grenek called her an “excellent role model” and said she is the “hardest worker in practice.”

Off the court, Sturdivant is excelling at A.W. Beattie, earning near-perfect grades. Overall, she has put together a 3.8 cumulative GPA.
