Updated on 04/30/2024

The winter sports regular season has concluded for most teams. While a few will wrap up their schedules this week, others are preparing for postseason matchups.

Swimming & Diving

The swimming and diving teams hosted Penn Hills last week and both earned victories. The boys are now 7-5-1 (3-2 in the section), and the girls are 6-7 (1-4 in the section). The teams have one meet left before the WPIAL Championships begin.

Wrestling

The varsity wrestling team took part in the Montour Duals over the weekend to conclude its team competition this season. With a 4-1 performance, the varsity squad ends with a 13-5 team record and will now turn its attention to individual competitions.

Girls’ Basketball

Girls’ basketball celebrated senior night last week with a decisive win over Mars. Later in the week, the girls wrapped up section play on the road against Hampton and won again to clinch a share of the section title. This marks the program’s first section championship since 1980. Now, they wait to find out who they will play in the WPIAL 5A playoffs.

The middle school girls concluded their season last week, and the eighth grade team finished its second consecutive undefeated season. Congratulations to the middle school team on another impressive season!

Boys’ Basketball

The boys’ basketball team lost to South Fayette on senior night last week but earned an important road win over Chartiers Valley on Friday. The 1-1 week helped North Hills clinch a berth in the WPIAL 5A postseason. They will find out who and when they play on Monday.

Unified Bocce

Friday marked the final regular season match for unified bocce, and both teams came away with 2-0 victories. As a result, Team 1 improved to 6-4 and clinched the fourth seed in the playoffs, while Team 2 clinched the top seed with a perfect 10-0 record.

Gymnastics

The varsity gymnastics team sent four girls to the WPIAL Individual Championships over the weekend. The girls combined to compete eight times and earned a top-20 finish six times. Congratulations to the girls on a great season!
