On Friday afternoon, the unified bocce teams wrapped up their regular season with playoff positioning on the line.
North Hills 2 had already locked up a spot in the playoffs, but it had work to do before clinching the top spot. With two victories over North Allegheny, the team finished the season as 10-0 division champions and will be the one seed in the Allegheny North Division playoffs.
Meanwhile, North Hills 1 needed two wins to have a shot at qualifying for the playoffs, and they got what they needed. A 2-0 record on Friday propelled them to a 6-4 overall record. They were tied with two other schools in the standings but did enough to earn fourth place and get into the playoffs.
Both teams will now play on February 28 at Avonworth in postseason action. Ironically, the fourth-place finish for North Hills 1 locks them into a matchup with the top seed, North Hills 2. The winner will advance to face the winner of the other division semifinal matchup with a trip to Geneva for regionals on the line.
Congratulations to both teams on making the playoffs, and good luck as you prepare to go head-to-head!
