The varsity boys’ basketball team traveled to Fox Chapel on Monday and fell in the first round of the WPIAL playoffs.
North Hills entered the game as the nine-seed set to take on the eighth-seeded Foxes, a team they had faced in each of the last two postseasons. Fox Chapel got off to a hot start, scoring 25 points in the first quarter, but the Indians battled back to take a lead into halftime.
The second half was more of the same, as Fox Chapel outscored North Hills by 14 points in the third quarter. Once again, the Indians stormed back and forced overtime.
In the extra frame, the tables turned as North Hills took an early lead, then saw Fox Chapel score at the buzzer to force a second overtime period. That time, the Foxes would take the lead and keep it, defeating the Indians 94-84.
This season was full of highs and lows for the boys’ basketball team. In the end, they entertained us all season and did so again on Monday. Congratulations on a great season!
