On Thursday, the girls’ basketball team traveled to Indiana for a WPIAL consolation game, with the winner earning a spot in the PIAA tournament.
The first half was low-scoring, as North Hills found itself down 13-7. A strong third quarter kept the Indians in the game, but Indiana was ultimately able to hold them off and win 35-28 to claim the WPIAL’s seventh and final spot in the state tournament.
With the loss, the season comes to an end for the North Hills girls. The 2023-2024 campaign saw the team improve by seven games in the section, which was good enough to become a section co-champion, a feat that had not been accomplish in over 40 years.
In addition to the regular season success, a win in round one of the playoffs for the first time since 1979 cemented this season as one of the best in program history.
While the season didn’t end the way we had hoped, it was a great run by the girls. Thank you for a great season!
