Updated on 04/30/2024

Friday was the second day of the WPIAL Swimming Championships, and once again, North Hills had a good day.

Five individuals/relay teams were in action in the second session on Friday. The boys had one relay comprised of Ari Gurchak, Gavin Schomaker, Bryce Sweeney, and Eli Parker. For the girls, the relay team was made up of Shelby Poniatowski, Alex Alder, Maddie Dube, and Casey Chen.

Individually, Cory Chen and Amanda Bliss swam in the 100 breaststroke. Both swimmers finished just off the medal stand, earning 12th place in their races.

Then, for the second day in a row, senior Dane Fazio found himself on the podium. He earned second place in the 100 breaststroke with a time of 57.08, which is a new school record. Fazio qualified for the PIAA Championships last year in this event with a seventh-place WPIAL finish.

Congratulations to the swimmers who competed on Friday!
