Jayden Arnett and Cory Chen have been named the Student-Athletes of the Month for February.

Arnett, a senior on the girls’ basketball team, was the leading rebounder and shot-blocker for the Indians en route to the team’s first section championship since 1980. She also earned Second Team All-Section honors from the Big 56 and served as a captain on this year’s team, which was the program’s first to win a playoff game since 1979.

Off the court, Arnett has put together a solid resume, compiling a 3.6 GPA while taking challenging classes that include honors courses.

Chen, a junior on the boys’ swimming and diving team, reached the WPIAL Individual Championships last month, where he earned a medal as part of the 200 medley relay that set a new school record with a time of 1:38.63.

In the classroom, Chen is currently taking four AP classes and has a 4.1 GPA. In addition, he spends his time outside the pool playing the flute in the wind ensemble.
