The North Hills unified bocce team participated in the regional competition on Wednesday with a trip to the PIAA Championships on the line.
North Hills entered play as the six-seed and began the day with a win over third-seeded Franklin Regional in the quarterfinals. The team fought back from an early deficit to advance via a golden frame.
In the semifinals, the Indians again found themselves in a tight match, but they were unable to work some late-frame magic for a second time. North Hills lost to South Park and was eliminated from PIAA Championship contention.
Still, the team had one final match to play, with a bronze medal awaiting the winner. North Hills took care of business against Avonworth to take third place.
Overall, the top North Hills team finished the season with a 13-2 record. They were unbeaten in the regular season, claimed second place in the division playoffs, and earned third place in the region. We could not be more excited for this group.
Congratulations to our unified bocce team, and thank you for an incredible season!
