The regular season is out, and the postseason is in! Below is a recap of how the final week of the spring season ended and information on upcoming playoff matchups.
Baseball
The varsity baseball team played a pair of one-run games last week to conclude the regular season. At the end of the week, the team learned that it will be the three-seed in this year’s 5A WPIAL bracket. Accordingly, they have received a bye and will play their first playoff game on Monday, May 20.
The middle school baseball team will wrap up its season this week, with its final home game coming on Wednesday at 4:00.
Softball
Varsity softball went 0-2 last week in non-section play but earned the two-seed in the 5A WPIAL tournament after going 13-4 overall and claiming a section title. Their first-round matchup is Monday against Mars at North Allegheny High School.
Middle school softball will end the spring season this week with road games on Monday and Tuesday.
Girls’ Lacrosse
The girls’ lacrosse team lost its regular season finale but earned the 10-seed in the upcoming WPIAL tournament. The girls will get the postseason started on Monday when they travel to Canon-McMillan to face off against the Big Macs.
Boys’ Lacrosse
The boys’ lacrosse team concluded its season last week with games against Butler and Shaler Area. A win on the road against Butler could’ve put the Indians into the postseason, but they couldn’t get the better of the Golden Tornado.
They ended with a win against the Titans to finish with a 5-9 record. Thanks for a great season, boys!
Track & Field
The varsity track and field teams ran in the Pine-Richland Last Chance Meet and are now set for the WPIAL Individual Championships. Eight individuals and six relays qualified for the WPIAL competition, which is scheduled for Wednesday.
Boys’ Volleyball
Boys’ volleyball went 2-1 last week to end the season, including a 3-0 sweep against Montour in the home finale. The team finished 8-10 overall this season. Thanks for a great year, boys!
Girls’ Flag Football
The girls’ flag football season wrapped up over the weekend with games against North Allegheny and Shaler Area, bringing the program’s first spring season to a conclusion. Congratulations, girls, on a great season!
