The varsity girls’ lacrosse team traveled to Canon-McMillan on Monday for the first round of the WPIAL playoffs.
The scoring started early, with the Big Macs striking less than a minute into the game. After the home team added another goal, North Hills struck for its first goal later in the quarter, which made the score 2-1.
Things remained tight throughout the first quarter, and the Indians were the first to score in quarter two, making it a 4-2 Canon-McMillan advantage. Unfortunately for North Hills, things went downhill from there.
A barrage of offense from the Big Macs yielded a 9-2 halftime score. Another flurry of goals early in the second half put the game out of reach. In the end, the Indians were eliminated by the final score of 18-5.
While this was not the way North Hills wanted the season to end, a second consecutive playoff appearance for the girls’ lacrosse program is a huge success. Congratulations, girls, on a great 2024 campaign!
