Last week, members of the varsity track and field team traveled to Slippery Rock University to compete in the WPIAL Individual Championships.
North Hills saw junior Gama Mogire punch his ticket to the state meet on day one of competition with a second-place finish in the 110-meter hurdles. On day two, junior Kayden Lightner claimed a second-place finish of his own (800-meter dash) to advance to the PIAA Championships.
In addition to the state qualifiers, North Hills saw a few other student-athletes earn medals at the WPIAL Championships.
On the boys’ side, two relay teams landed on the medal stand: the 4X400 relay (Gama Mogire, Jameson Overton, Daniel Satariano, and Kayden Lightner) and the 4X800 relay (Daniel Satariano, Ryan Humenik, Charles Veiga, Kayden Lightner).
On the girls’ side, senior Gianna Sturdivant earned a medal in the 400-meter dash.
Congratulations to everyone who competed, earned a medal, and advanced to the state meet!
