Baseball season ends in WPIAL quarterfinals
Baseball season ends in WPIAL quarterfinals
Posted on 05/21/2024

On Monday, the varsity baseball team played its first game of the 2024 postseason – a WPIAL quarterfinal matchup against Franklin Regional.

The Indians came into Monday’s game off a bye they earned by being named the three-seed in Class 5A. Franklin Regional was the six-seed in this year’s tournament, but with seven section champions across three 5A sections, no game would be easy, and North Hills learned that in the quarterfinals.

Franklin Regional got off to a fast start, scoring three runs in the first inning and six runs in the second. The Indians attempted to chip away at the 9-0 deficit, but they were unsuccessful. Meanwhile, the Panthers added another run, increasing their lead to ten in the fourth inning.

North Hills was able to get on the board late in the game, but by that point, the game was out of hand. By the final score of 13-1, the Indians were bounced from the postseason.

This was far from what North Hills was hoping for on Monday afternoon, but it doesn’t take away from the fact that this was a great year for the varsity baseball team. Thanks for a great season, boys!
