October is here, and while the season is heating up for some, it is wrapping up for others. Here is an update on our teams:
Cross Country
The varsity cross country teams celebrated senior day last week with a pair of victories over Pine-Richland. The boys won their race 20-43, while the girls won 25-34.
Football
Varsity football returned home last week to face off against Plum in section play. A 21-14 victory elevates the Indians to 6-1 this season. They own a 2-1 section record, which puts them in a tie for second place.
Golf
Kasey Toia played in the final round of the WPIAL Individual Championships at Oakmont Country Club last week. His score of 77 left him just outside of state qualifying position, but it was a great performance by him nonetheless.
The team then concluded its season on Wednesday with a senior day match against Pine-Richland. Congratulations to the golf team on another great season!
Girls’ Soccer
The girls' soccer team took the field three times last week, going 1-2. They began the week with losses to Allderdice and Butler before going on the road and defeating Penn Hills 4-0.
Boys’ Soccer
Boys' soccer got back in the win column in section play last week with a 2-1 victory over Butler. That matchup was their only one of the week, and it moved them to 10-5 this season (4-3 in the section).
Despite being idle on Thursday, North Hills benefitted from a Pine-Richland loss. The Indians have clinched a spot in the postseason for the first time since 2016!
Girls’ Volleyball
The varsity volleyball team went 1-1 last week, picking up a 3-1 victory over Fox Chapel before falling in three sets to North Catholic. The girls carry a 3-9 record this season.
Girls’ Tennis
Ellie Kim and Adelaide Seigworth returned to the courts last week for the WPIAL doubles tournament. As the eight-seed, the girls won their first-round matchup but fell in the second round to the tournament's top pair and eventual champions.
As a team, the girls wrapped up their season with matches against Penn Hills and Peters Township. Congratulations on another successful fall!
