The fall of 2016 was the last time the North Hills boys' soccer team reached the WPIAL playoffs, but that's about to change.
Last season, the boys' soccer program took a massive step forward after several years of struggling to contend. They went undefeated in non-section play and picked up their first section win in years.
That was good, but 2024 has elevated the Indians to a new level of success. The boys started the season 3-1, then earned a section win over Butler early in September. It felt like this season could be different for North Hills, and by the end of the month, it was undeniable.
A four-game winning streak saw the team establish itself as a legitimate playoff contender in Class 4A Section 3. Then, in October, a second win over Butler, combined with a Pine-Richland loss to Seneca Valley made it official. North Hills is playoff-bound.
This is the first time the boys' soccer team has qualified for the postseason since 2016, and while simply getting in is great, there is still work to be done. Remaining section matchups against Pine-Richland, Seneca Valley, and Fox Chapel will play a large part in determining where North Hills falls in the playoff bracket.
Congratulations to the boys' soccer team on a tremendous season thus far, and good luck the rest of the way!
