Varsity football season ends in first-round loss to Franklin Regional
Updated on 11/04/2024

After an impressive 8-2 regular season for the North Hills varsity football team, the season has come to an end after a first-round defeat.

The Indians hosted their first-round playoff matchup as the eight-seed in the WPIAL Class 5A playoffs. Their opponent, Franklin Regional, was the nine-seed (7-3).

North Hills struck first on a long touchdown pass to take a 7-0 lead, but Franklin Regional answered back with a touchdown and a field goal and took a 10-7 lead into halftime.

A second Indians touchdown and a safety by the defense gave North Hills a 16-10 edge in the fourth quarter. But Franklin Regional was able to strike late for their second touchdown of the game and eventually won 17-16 to advance to the quarterfinals.

For North Hills, the loss is a difficult ending to an otherwise impressive season. Despite failing to advance, the 2024 campaign was an exciting one for the Indians. Thank you for a great season!
