The winter sports regular season is all but wrapped up. Here is a look at where we stand as the remaining teams and student-athletes set their sights on the postseason:
Girls' Basketball
Girls' basketball went 1-1 last week, falling to North Allegheny before beating Woodland Hills 65-40. Unfortunately, North Hills needed two wins to qualify for the playoffs, so the season will come to an end on Monday when the girls play their final game.
Boys' Basketball
The boys' basketball team also went 1-1 last week, but one win was all they needed. A win against North Allegheny on Tuesday helped the boys clinch a playoff berth. They will learn who and when they play when the bracket is unveiled on Monday.
Gymnastics
North Hills saw five girls compete in the WPIAL Gymnastics Championships last week. Between the girls, there were four top-20 finishes for North Hills. The highest score on an event belonged to Lainie Delcroix (9.150 on vault), while the highest place belonged to Presley Meininger (14th on bars).
Indoor Track
The indoor track team traveled to Youngstown State for its third of four meets there this winter. The top ten finishers on the girls' side included Megan Bolinda (10th place, 3200M), the girls' 4X200 relay (7th), and the girls' 4X800 relay (8th).
The top ten finishers on the boys' side were Kayden Lightner (7th, 1600M), Gama Mogire (5th, 60 hurdles), the boys' 4X200M relay (6th), the boys' 4X400M relay (1st), and the boys' 4X800M relay (2nd).
Swimming & Diving
Last week was jam-packed for the varsity swimming & diving teams as they competed in three meets. The teams will swim in one final meet before turning their attention to the WPIAL Championships at the end of the month.
Unified Bocce
The unified bocce teams took on Hampton last week and picked up one win. North Hills 1 is still alive in the race for the playoffs, as the team is currently tied for fourth place (the top four qualify for the postseason).
Wrestling
The varsity wrestling team hosted its final home match of the season last week and finished a perfect 6-0. Top performers for the Indians included Cam Healey (6-0, 36 points), Giovanni Polito (6-0, 35), Brady Rohaly (6-0, 35), and Carter Morvay (6-0, 32)
