On Monday, the boys' varsity basketball team traveled to Butler for the first round of the WPIAL 6A playoffs.
North Hills, the ten-seed in the tournament, split its regular season matchups with Butler, the seven-seed, setting up a third head-to-head meeting in the playoffs with a trip to New Castle on the line.
Butler came out firing on all cylinders to start the game, jumping out to an early 8-0 lead. North Hills regrouped and began a comeback that saw the boys pull even at 24 points apiece. Butler then regained a lead at halftime, 33-28.
From there, the Golden Tornado slowly began to pull away. They nearly doubled their lead in the third quarter, forcing the Indians to push for a comeback. In the end, Butler prevailed by the final score of 71-54.
With the loss, the season has come to an end for the North Hills boys' basketball team. The boys exceeded expectations this winter, making the playoffs for a fourth consecutive season and beating some of the top teams in 6A.
The season may have ended earlier than we hoped, but the boys put forth a great effort all winter. Thank you for a great year!
