We are halfway through September, which means we are in the heart of the fall sports season. Here is a look at where the teams at North Hills stand.

Cross Country

Varsity cross country traveled to Shaler Area last Tuesday for its lone meet of the week. The boys' team cruised to wins over Shaler Area and Central Catholic, while the girls' team beat Shaler Area and lost to Oakland Catholic.

Football

The varsity football team put their unblemished record on the line last Friday when it traveled to Pine-Richland. The Indians battled back from a 17-point deficit, but they ultimately fell to the Rams, 29-24. The team is now 3-1 on the season.

Golf 

The varsity golf team played a pair of matches last week against Hampton and Highlands. This week, the team will turn its attention to sectional qualifiers.

Girls’ Soccer

Varsity soccer is coming off a tough week, going 0-3 with losses to Allderdice, Butler, and Shaler Area. Overall, the girls now own a 2-6 record this fall.

Boys’ Soccer

The boys' soccer team got the week kicked off right with a thrilling 2-1 section victory over Butler. The win was the first in section play this year for the boys, and despite a loss on Thursday to Fox Chapel, they still own a winning record as they sit at 5-4.

Girls’ Volleyball

Varsity volleyball had a difficult week last week, losing 3-0 on back-to-back nights against North Catholic and Butler. The losses give the girls three in a row and drop them to 2-4 on the season.

Girls’ Tennis

Last week was section singles for the girls' tennis team, and Ellie Kim finished in second place. As a result, she earned a spot in this week's WPIAL Singles Championships.
